MINUTES OF LION'S REGULAR MEETING - 12/5/01 Members present Lion's Jerry Louward, Jon Tews, Ken Matheson, Tim Enters, Bob Fellenz, John Ripple, Del GiGante, Jack Winter, Andy Spencer, Tam Haase, Ken Andries Guest Mary Jane (Ghost Program) Pledge, Song, Prayer - Lion Bob Fellenz Acting secretary Jerry Louward reported that there were no minutes from previous meet available to be read. A motion was made and pass to fine the Lion Secretary $2.00 for not making the minutes available to the acting secretary. It was decided that the club would buy the raffle tickets sent to us for the District Convention. Bocce Ball - Lion Del GiGante The District Bocce Ball tournament will be held at the New Berlin VFW on April 13, 2002. Bob and Del will set up work assignments for the members. The club will arrange for a table to promote the tournament at the District Convention. Tables are to be available for this purpose, at no charge, on Saturday January 19, 2001 from 8AM to 10Am. The District Convention will be held on January 17th, 18th and 19th. Arrangements will be made for the club to rent a suite or two adjoining rooms for Friday January 17th. Mini Bonspiel - Lion Ken Matheson An event will be held on January 6th at the Kettle Moraine Curling Club. It was proposed that our club and the Burlington club purchase a memorial traveling trophy for the event. A motion was made that we provide a maximum of $50.00 for said trophy. The motion passed with some dissenting votes. World Trade Center Fund - Jon Tews The club had previously agreed to send $1,000.00 to the Manhattan Lion's Club. These funds have not yet been disbursed. We received correspondence requesting that we donate fund to Lions International's September 11th Fund instead. A motion was made to refer this question to the Contributions Committee. The motion passed. On two occasions, the acting Tailtwister received phone calls. Both times he answered the calls outside of the meeting room. Motions were made, and passed unanimously, to fine the acting Tailtwister $.50 per attending member. Guest Speaker - Mary Jane An update on the Ghost Program was presented to the members. A parents support group has supplied clothing. Kohl,s Department Store provides an addition 20% off purchases made for the Ghost Program. The New Berlin Citizen has agreed to do a story on the program. New Berlin West Middle School is considering starting a Ghost Program. A joint school dance will be held to raise fund for the program. At present, there is $173.02 available in the program. A discussion that followed found that although we have allocated $2000.00 for the program, we have not disbursed the funds. The Treasurer was instructed to disburse $2000.00 immediately.
