NEW BERLIN INDUSTRIAL LIONS
Volume 30 Members Meet The regular meeting of the New Berlin Industrial Lions Club, held on Wednesday, February 21, 2001, was called to order by Lion President Ken Matheson at 12:15 p.m. and followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, the singing of America, and table grace. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Lion Ron Kase and accepted as read. There were 12 Lions present. Lion Jerry Louward, Chair of the Membership Committee, showed the club a live version of our future web site. The members were very interested. Lion Jerry handed out a sheet requesting the information each Lion would want to display on the site next to their name. He asked that this information be returned to him as soon as possible. After thorough discussion, approval of the site was moved, seconded and approved. Lion President Ken Matheson reported that the debate among the mayoral race finalists, Wysocki and Gatzke will take place on March 21, 2001. Invitations for lunch and the debate will be sent to companies in the Industrial Parks shortly. Tickets are to be paid for in advance, with a minimum participation of 20 persons required. Jim Masters has offered to be the Master of Ceremonies. Lion Del reported on the participation in the 27A-1 District convention, and the participation in the Bocci-ball demonstration. He reported good results, and is now making the rounds of clubs to drum up support. Lion Tom Haase is co-ordinating the tickets for the Brewers vs. the Boston Red Sox exhibition game on March 31, 2001. The tickets are free for Lions and $20 per guest. The money is to come from the Tail-twister fund. He handed out a sheet of who would attend, and promised to personally contact absent members to ascertain their intentions. Lion Andy will report on dues at the next meeting. The Tail-twister Raffle of $5 was won by Lion Ken Matheson. Another Tail-twister Raffle of Cheese and Crackers was won by Lion Tom Haase, and the Birthday Raffle consisting of a bottle of 1986 Cabernet was won by the honorable secretary. The meeting was adjourned at 1:29 p.m. Get Ready to Bocci-ball! The club has now set the first Lions Bocci-ball tournament for
May 5 and 6, 2001 Entry fee will be $100 per team of 4-5 persons, and includes a 3 game minimum, food and beverages on both days. So it looks like a bargain. A number of members attended the District 1-A convention last month and hopes are high for a successful first tournament. So mark your calendars for the above dates and be prepared to participate both days. See Bocce Ball flier. That's all there is on this or any other subject, so see you all at this Wednesday's meeting back at good old AMF lanes. Reminder:
